COVID-19 Production Update
To our Valued Distribution Partners and Field Sales Team,
As previously shared, in response to the COVID-19 virus the Governor of the State of Michigan has signed a “shelter-in-place” order that has taken place at 12:01 a.m., March 24th. This order requires that all non-essential businesses suspend operations.
Prior to this order taking effect, in support of the CDC’s guidance on “social distancing” our team worked diligently to move all inside sales, order processing, detailing, and technical support and customer service team members out of our Decatur and Benton Harbor facilities. These important and pre-manufacturing support functions remain in operation. Each of these team members can be reached by you and our field sales team by phone or email and this guidance and information can be found on our website (special-lite.com) as well.
With the executive order for the state of
Michigan in place, we have implemented a “hold” on all existing orders
currently in production for the duration of this state of Michigan order as we
work to evaluate the mandate of our
own state and others. Our Marshall, Arkansas production operation remains open
and our AF-100 doors as well as all AF framing are not impacted at this time. Please
note, other all fiberglass products are impacted as sub-assembly work is
completed in our Michigan operations. Please contact us to discuss alternative
options that may exist on any current all-fiberglass orders. All new orders can
and should continue to be placed and we will enter them and place them on
“hold”. Any new confirmation dates would likely include up to an additional 3
weeks added to our current lead-time for planning purposes. We anticipate a
production lead-time for such new orders to be in the range of 6-8 weeks for
shipment. Also, please note our receiving department remains open to receive
your hardware for application during manufacturing on your pending orders.
We appreciate your patience and understanding of the circumstances we are all in this together and want to assure you that Special-Lite’s current priority is the health and safety of our family, our distribution partners, and our communities. We are also currently evaluating our role in support of this crisis and fully recognize that our products help to provide safety and security to many “essential” or critical life sustaining facilities. Finally, we are evaluating our governor’s directive and whether we can promptly resume production in support of these “essential” facilities needs. We currently understand these essential facilities to include healthcare related, governmental, pharmaceutical, food production and distribution, data centers, as well as other life-sustaining services and clients who are working on the front-line to solve this pandemic crisis.
Please be assured we are working diligently to ensure that when we resume our production operations all members of our Special-Lite team and distribution partners are safe and our efforts are consistent and in support of the goals of our governmental and healthcare leaders. Our sales team will be in touch with you as we determine our next course of action.
Very Sincerely,
Steve Benscoter
